Summer in Full Swing at Everwood Care Homes
July has been a busy and joyful month across Everwood Care Homes, Heartland Manor and Little Haven. As always, our residents have been enjoying a fantastic variety of activities, entertainment and opportunities, connecting them with the wider community.
Football Fever

July kicked off with plenty of football spirit. Our foyer and dining room were beautifully decorated for the World Cup. The colourful displays brought a fun atmosphere into our homes and added a lovely seasonal touch for residents, staff and visitors to enjoy.
Summer Notes

We were delighted to welcome Kerry LeBern back to perform for our residents. Kerry treated everyone to a wonderful selection of summery songs and much-loved favourites from musicals. Many residents joined in, singing along to familiar favourites. Afterwards, everyone gathered together over tea and cake, making it a lovely afternoon from beginning to end.
Staying Cool in Rising Temperatures
When temperatures rose, we adapted plans and made the most of our air-conditioned dining room for a cooler and more relaxing afternoon.
Residents enjoyed getting creative by decorating drink coasters and colouring beautiful sun catchers, adding thread so they could be displayed in windows and catch the sunlight.
Of course, keeping cool was just as important, with plenty of refreshing drinks and delicious choc-ices enjoyed throughout the afternoon.
Movement from Malcolm
We were delighted to welcome Malcolm into Little Haven for a unique Biodanza session. Combining music, movement, instruments, gentle exercises, poetry, songs and plenty of humour, the session created a wonderful atmosphere full of warmth and energy. Our residents thoroughly enjoyed getting involved and sharing in such an uplifting experience.

Six Villages Together Festival

July gave us the chance to connect with our local community at the Six Villages Together Festival. The Everwood Care team enjoyed meeting families, seeing familiar faces and making new friends, sharing more about life at our homes, Little Haven in Dibden Purlieu and Heartland Manor in Brockenhurst.
A huge thank you to everyone who visited our stand and took the time to chat with us. It was wonderful to be part of such a fantastic community event and to talk about the companionship, care and homely environment we strive to provide for our residents every day.
Four-Legged Friends
In July, we welcomed a very special four-legged visitor, Cooper the PAT Dog! His visit brought plenty of smiles, cuddles and happiness, giving residents a wonderful start to their morning.

Setting Sail
One of the highlights of July was a memorable trip aboard the Alison McGregor. After setting off from Hythe Marina, residents enjoyed a scenic journey along the River Itchen and towards the docks. There was plenty to see along the way, including the impressive Aurora cruise ship and a huge container vessel measuring around 400 metres long!
The trip sparked fascinating conversations as everyone learned about the area’s history, including the location where the Titanic was once moored before beginning her famous voyage.
A particular highlight was seeing Roy take the wheel for around 15 minutes. He looked completely at home and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

With drinks, biscuits and a lovely breeze to accompany the journey, everyone agreed it was a wonderful afternoon filled with new sights, stories and shared memories.
Looking Ahead: Everwood Summer Event
We’re looking forward to continuing the summer celebrations in August with our upcoming Summer Event at Heartland Manor on Saturday 1 August.

Families, friends and little ones are all welcome to join us from 1.30pm for an afternoon packed with fun. There will be plenty to enjoy, including Hook a Duck, Splat the Rat, tombola and our Guess How Many Sweets Are in the Jar challenge. Younger visitors can also help us choose the perfect name for our teddy bear.
With face glitter, hair tinsel, music and delicious summer treats, it promises to be a wonderful afternoon for all generations to enjoy together.
